The 2022 Tiki Tour was a wonderful end of Summer event featuring the beautifully maintained water gardens of 3 SLWGS members.
This year’s event featured the Jim Haegele and Ramin & Donna Ashrafzadeh gardens, both part of the annual Pond Tour. Members who host Pond-O-Rama aren’t able to visit each other’s gardens. The Tiki Tour provides an intimate setting to appreciate the water gardens owned by other members.
The third featured garden belonged to a brand new member, Kathy Soehngen! We are thrilled to welcome her (and her lovely water garden) to the St. Louis Water Garden Society.
This year’s gardens were a treat. With Koi ponds, waterfall features, Monet inspired bridges, Japanese elements, pergolas, and spectacular lighting, there was something for everyone to enjoy. (Even the spotless garage was enviable!)
It is the plants, however, that most often win our hearts. Late in the season, the growth is lush and full. Water lilies fill the ponds and tall grasses line them. Gardens this luxurious require careful maintenance. Our hosts’ attention to detail showed.
As in the past, each host on the 2022 Tiki Tour served food and drink as part of a progressive meal. Members were able to enjoy time with old friends and to mingle with new ones. Thank you to our gracious hosts and to all who attended this year’s Tiki Tour.
